Our story begins in the Spring of 2017. A stranger named Daniel one day decided to endorse one of my skills on LinkedIn in customer service. lol. He caught my eye and I replied, “thank you :)”, not thinking I would ever speak to this man again. To my surprise, this little endorsement opened the doors to a new friendship that we never thought would turn into forever. Daniel lived in Nevada, and I lived in New York, yep 2000 miles away from each other. We spoke every day, spent hours on the phone laughing and never ran out of things to say. I had a solo trip booked in July to go to Florida because I’m beach obsessed. Two days before my trip Daniel decided he was going to come down and book rooms at the same hotels that I booked so that we could finally meet. We met on July 21st of 2017 in Fort Lauderdale.
On our first date, we sat in the lounge of the hotel and ordered some appetizers. It was raining for most of the day, so we were stuck inside, but it gave us time to learn more about each other. Later that evening we had plans to go to dinner at the steakhouse inside our hotel. Daniel was such a gentleman that he came to my door to pick me up and walk me downstairs to the restaurant. We spent most of our time laughing…and eating (we are foodies). We went for a walk that night to the beach and dipped our feet in the warm water where we talked about our dreams, joys, and life. Daniel and I decided to move to Florida where it all began. We knew that after finding each other we could never be apart. This would be a new adventure for both of us and a leap of faith. Every day since the first has felt like a blessing, our hearts found a home in each other. Our love for one another continues to flourish and it is pretty magical.
On August 19, 2018, Daniel took me or a weekend getaway at the first resort we went to. We spent the day relaxing on the beach. Later that night Daniel surprised me and took me to the restaurant where we had our first date. Our table was outside overlooking the beach where Daniel and I spent that first night chatting. After dinner, we went back to our hotel and Daniel suggested we go for a walk. We walked to this beautiful spot that overlooks the ocean. Daniel hugged me and began to say sweet words about our life together. He then got down on one knee, pulled out a beautiful ring and asked if I would marry him. I immediately cried tears of joy and attacked him with kisses.
What makes Daniels proposal even more special is something truly magical…..the spot Daniel chose to propose, was where I had said a prayer a year before on a solo vacation. I prayed for God to send me the man he created for me, and I would trust in his timing. I also asked for a sign to ensure God heard my prayer. (a little demanding, but hey I had to know lol) That same night I saw a shooting star and I knew that God heard my prayer…..what I didn’t know was that a year later the prayer would be answered. A year later Daniel would be proposing to me in that very same spot. You can say that God brought us together because we were simply created for each other!
